Privacy Policy
Your details should not become the product.
Ripples is built around useful interactions between people. That requires trust. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, when it may become public and the choices you have.
Effective date: 11 September 2026
1. Who we are
Ripples is an editorial, podcast, events and connection project operated by Double You Anchor Corporation Pty Ltd in New South Wales, Australia. In this policy, “Ripples”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Double You Anchor Corporation Pty Ltd and the people authorised to operate Ripples.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information handled through this website, Ripples profiles, correspondence, introductions, editorial work, podcasts and events. “Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with Ripples, we may collect:
- your name, email address, location, photograph and contact details;
- profile responses, including what you can help with, what people ask you about, what you are curious about, what you are learning and what help you could use;
- your profession or other context, website and social links, and preferred ways of helping;
- messages, feedback, event registrations, interview material and other contributions;
- records of your consent, profile approvals, corrections and removal requests; and
- basic technical information generated when you use the website, such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page and security or access logs.
Please do not send government identifiers, financial details, health information or other sensitive information unless we specifically ask for it and explain why it is needed.
4. How we collect information
We usually collect information directly from you when you submit a form, email us, participate in an event or conversation, or agree to a profile or contribution. We may also receive information through an introduction, from a person you have authorised, or from publicly available sources when preparing editorial material. If we receive personal information we did not request, we will decide whether it is reasonably necessary and, if not, delete or de-identify it where lawful and practical.
5. Why we use it
We may use personal information to:
- review Join the Ripple submissions and communicate with you;
- draft, verify, publish and maintain profiles or contributions you have approved;
- respond to questions and facilitate requested contact or introductions;
- produce editorial work, podcasts and events;
- moderate participation and protect people from spam, misuse or unsafe conduct;
- operate, secure, measure and improve the website and Ripples services; and
- meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not provide the participant list to third parties for their marketing.
6. What may be public
Nothing submitted through Join the Ripple is automatically published. We review submissions and will contact you before creating a public profile. A public profile may include your name, location, photo, profile answers, professional context and links that you have approved. Your email address will not be displayed publicly by default.
Information published online may be indexed by search engines, shared by other people, archived or copied beyond our control. If you ask us to remove published information, we will remove it from channels we control within a reasonable time, but we cannot guarantee deletion from third-party caches, archives or copies.
7. Contact via Ripples and introductions
Ripples may act as an intermediary so that people can express interest in contacting you without us publishing your private contact details. We will not pass your direct contact details to another participant without your permission, unless required by law. If you ask us to make an introduction, we may share the information reasonably needed to make that introduction.
8. Who we share information with
We may disclose information to:
- technology, hosting, email, form, storage, security and analytics providers that help us operate Ripples;
- editors, producers, event partners and contractors who need it for authorised Ripples work;
- people involved in an introduction or interaction you have requested or approved;
- professional advisers, insurers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where reasonably necessary or legally required; and
- a successor organisation if Ripples is restructured or transferred, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice where practical.
Some service providers may store or process information outside Australia. The countries involved may vary as providers change. We select reputable providers and take reasonable steps appropriate to the service and information involved.
9. Website data, cookies and analytics
The current launch site does not use advertising trackers or behavioural advertising. Hosting and security providers may process basic access logs and use strictly necessary technologies to deliver and protect the site. If we add non-essential analytics, newsletter technology or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.
10. Security and retention
We take reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No internet or email system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described above, to maintain appropriate records, or to meet legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
11. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- give you access to it, subject to lawful exceptions;
- correct inaccurate or out-of-date information;
- withdraw a profile from future publication or remove it from the site; or
- stop sending optional communications.
Use the Ripples contact page and include enough information for us to identify the relevant record. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within a reasonable time and explain if we cannot fulfil a request.
12. Children
Ripples profiles and direct participation are intended for people aged 18 and over. Please do not submit personal information about a child without the permission of their parent or guardian and prior agreement from Ripples.
13. Questions and complaints
If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact us through the contact page. Tell us what happened and the outcome you are seeking. We will acknowledge the matter and try to resolve it within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied and Australian privacy law applies, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
14. Changes to this policy
Ripples will evolve. We may update this policy when our practices or services change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected people.
This policy is intended to provide a clear and responsible operating standard for the first version of Ripples. It should be reviewed when accounts, payments, automated matching, significant analytics, a formal newsletter platform or materially different data practices are introduced.
